Manchester City will make Micah Richards his own Premier League winners medal .<\/p>\n
Right-back Richards doesn\u2019t automatically qualify for a medal, as he made only two league appearances last season.<\/p>\n
Five are required for a player to receive a medal but City want to make Richards, 25, a special case as he has been at the club since the age of 14.<\/p>\n
The England defender has had injury setbacks and Pablo Zabaleta\u2019s consistent form also kept him out.<\/p>\n
The medal looks like being a leaving present for Richards, who has only a year left on his contract.<\/p>\n
City want him to stay to help boost their homegrown quota to meet Premier League requirements.<\/p>\n
But Richards wants to leave for regular first-team action and Newcastle are now leading the chase for the versatile defender who is valued by City at \u00a37million.<\/p>\n
Arsenal also have a long-standing interest and fear they could lose their out-of-contract right-back Bacary Sagna to City.<\/p>\n
Another of City\u2019s England defenders, Joleon Lescott, is also set to leave with QPR the latest club to show interest.<\/p>\n
Lescott is out of contract and Rangers boss Harry Redknapp will make a move if his side win Saturday\u2019s Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley against Derby to secure a return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n
City, meanwhile, are pressing ahead with a deal for Porto\u2019s defensive midfielder Fernando \u2013 despite their Financial Fair Play issues with UEFA.<\/p>\n
