{"id":3441,"date":"2014-04-11T02:22:43","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T02:22:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/?p=3441"},"modified":"2014-04-11T02:22:43","modified_gmt":"2014-04-11T02:22:43","slug":"midfielder-says-united-has-nothing-to-play-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/football\/midfielder-says-united-has-nothing-to-play-for\/","title":{"rendered":"Midfielder Says United Has Nothing To Play For"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<section>United have been left licking their wounds after crashing out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night \u00a0and ace midfielder Darren Fletcher admits that the\u00a0club&#8217;s reputation has taken a severe battering.<\/p>\n<p>David Moyes&#8217;s men lost 3-1 in the Allianz Arena to go down 4-2 on aggregate to the European champions and miss out on a place in the semi-finals alongside Premier League rivals Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>The latest setback ended United&#8217;s final hopes of winning something this season and securing qualification for the competition next time out.<\/p>\n<p>It will be the first time in almost two decades that United will not be rubbing shoulders with the greatest clubs in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The Munich mauling brought the curtain down on a miserable campaign in Moyes&#8217;s first season in charge.<\/p>\n<p>United have made a pitiful defence of their league title as well as failing to win either domestic cup competition and<\/p>\n<p>The Scotland star said: &#8220;Definitely our reputation has been damaged. We now have five or six league games left with nothing really to play for.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That is a unique experience for us and we are disappointed and hurting, but we have to go into these games and we have to win them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefinitely our reputation has been damaged\u201d Darren Fletcher.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>&#8220;We lose as a team to be honest. It is a situation that everybody is affected by, not just one person, player, manager or anyone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We stick together as a club and we win and lose as a club and a squad.
