David Moyes has admitted that Manchester United got the toughest team after his side was paired with Champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals draws on Friday.<\/p>\n
Moyes said he was happy United was part of the draw, but the former Everton manager quickly added that not many people gave his side a chance to overturn a two-goal deficit to beat Olympiakos 3-0 at Old Trafford to book their spot in the last eight.<\/p>\n
“So, in a lot of ways, it didn’t really matter who we drew but I’ve got to say we’ve probably got the favourites and they are the defending champions – so it’s a really tough draw.”Moyes said.<\/p>\n
“I am thrilled that we were in that draw and the quarter-finals of the Champions League. After being 2-0 down after the away leg at Olympiakos, I don’t think there were too many people putting us through to the next round.”<\/p>\n
As for playing the first leg at Old Trafford, he added: “I always think you want to be at home in the second leg and that would be the preference.<\/p>\n
“But the way the games are going now, counter-attack football, and teams taking a different approach to playing away, it matters less.”<\/p>\n
And talking about Van Persie’s injury Moyes said: “He needs another scan. It’s not totally conclusive so we need to check him out.<\/p>\n
“All I can say he won’t be available for West Ham.”<\/p>\n
Moyes accepts he has little Champions League experience but is not unperturbed going into a match against the Bundesliga champions-elect next month, saying: “I’ve had help from a lot of people around us.<\/p>\n
