{"id":2255,"date":"2014-02-27T09:00:11","date_gmt":"2014-02-27T09:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/?p=2255"},"modified":"2014-02-27T09:00:31","modified_gmt":"2014-02-27T09:00:31","slug":"we-must-remain-focus-to-pick-champions-league-spot-toure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/football\/we-must-remain-focus-to-pick-champions-league-spot-toure\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8221;We Must Be Focused To Pick Champions League Spot&#8221; Toure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p itemprop=\"description\"><strong>Kolo Toure has called for calm as Liverpool close in on securing a UEFA Champions League place.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brendan Rodgers&#8217; side, who are four points adrift of leaders Chelsea in fourth, have kept just two clean sheets in their past 11 games stretching back to mid-December.<\/p>\n<p>And despite beating Swansea City 4-3 at Anfield on Sunday, the Liverpool defence received more criticism for the way they played.<\/p>\n<p>Toure, though, doesn&#8217;t feel that now is the time to be critical and believes that the side must remain focused for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;We just need now to keep calm and do what we have been doing, if we continue that we will get the same results.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are going to be some tough games; Southampton [this Saturday] is a tough place to go but I think we can score goals and defend well as a team and we are working hard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool are currently six points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium goalkeeper Simon Mignolet thinks that Rodgers should take credit for their performances this season.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;We are in a good position at the moment with 11 games to go there are still a lot of things that can happen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need to stay calm and focus on the next game. The gaffer gives everyone confidence.
