{"id":2072,"date":"2014-02-21T20:26:03","date_gmt":"2014-02-21T20:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/?p=2072"},"modified":"2014-02-21T20:26:03","modified_gmt":"2014-02-21T20:26:03","slug":"pellegrini-in-uefa-trouble-over-referee-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/football\/pellegrini-in-uefa-trouble-over-referee-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Pellegrini In UEFA Trouble Over Referee Comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p itemprop=\"description\">\n<p itemprop=\"description\">Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been charged by UEFA for his outburst against referee Jonas Erikson after their 2-0 defeat by Barcelona on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>A UEFA statement read: &#8220;Following an investigation by the UEFA disciplinary inspector, UEFA has today opened disciplinary proceedings against Manuel Luis Pellegrini concerning the press interviews given to media after the above-mentioned match.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Manchester City FC head coach is charged for violation of the general principles of conduct (Art.11 of the 2013 UEFA disciplinary regulations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The case will be dealt with by the UEFA control and disciplinary body on Friday 28 February.&#8221; The statement read.<\/p>\n<p>Pellegrini\u00a0was furious with referee Eriksson following a series of decisions which he felt went against his side unfairly.<\/p>\n<p>City defender Martin Demichelis was sent off and a penalty awarded to Barcelona following the Argentine&#8217;s challenge on Lionel Messi.<\/p>\n<p>The Chilean had issued an apology for his verbal attack on Eriksson earlier on Friday but has failed to escape a disciplinary charge from European football&#8217;s governing body.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been charged by UEFA for his outburst against referee Jonas Erikson after their 2-0 defeat by Barcelona on Tuesday.
