Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola admits he side was lucky to beat Arsenal 2-0 in their round of 16 match at the Emirates stadium after losing his two previous games at the venue.<\/p>\n
The ex-Barcelona coach endured two winless visits with his former Spanish employers but expressed his delight after Wednesday’s triumph. After witnessing a first half with two missed penalties – one from Mesut Ozil of Arsenal and the other courtesy of Bayern’s David Alaba – and a red card, Guardiola watched his side dominate the second period.<\/p>\n
Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller both graced the score-sheet as Bayern enjoyed 79 per cent of the possession and Guardiola concedes he was delighted to break his Emirates duck.<\/p>\n
“Last year, Bayern had a better result and this year it is super, we are so happy,” he toldSky Sports<\/i>.<\/p>\n
“The last two times I came here with Barcelona, we played amazing and we didn’t win so I know how difficult it is to win here. “I accept, we played 10 against 11 so it’s easier that way and the red card was clear.<\/p>\n
” With Arsenal reduced to 10 men following Wojciech Szczesny’s first-half red card, the Gunners were entrenched in their own half for the majority of the second period and Guardiola applauded his side’s persistence.<\/p>\n
“When you see the second half and you see nine players in the box, it is not easy,” he added.<\/p>\n

Bayern returned to the Allianz Arena with a two-goal advantage over Arsenal at the same stage last year – having won 3-1 in North London before losing 2-0 at home – and only progressed virtue of the away goals rule, and Guardiola insists the reigning champions must avoid complacency.<\/p>\n
