Spurs, United Want Former Barca manager, But Van Gaal Waits On Arsenal

Job-hunting Louis van Gaal is waiting for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to commit his future to the Emirates before deciding on his own next move.

The Holland national side boss was in line to take over from Tim Sherwood at Tottenhamin the summer, but Van Gaal is hedging his bets in case Wenger goes.

Old Trafford is another potential Premier League destination for Van Gaal – although Manchester United insist they are sticking with David Moyes.

On Saturday, the Reds dismissed reports from Holland that Van Gaal had held talks with chief executive Ed Woodward.

A United spokesman said: ”No such meeting took place.”

Privately, they believe the Dutchman, who will leave his Holland job after the World Cup, is using them as a stalking horse ahead of negotiations with Spurs.

Van Gaal’s clear interest if the Gunners’ top job becomes available is more evidence that he is keeping all his options open.

The 62-year-old former Barcelona, Bayern and Ajax coach wants his next job to be in English football and is said to have already met Spurs supremo Daniel Levy.
