Nigeria Aim To Surpass Previous W/Cup Record As Keshi Sets To Surprise Nigerians

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will give coach Stephen Keshi and his technical crew all the necessary support to ensure that the Super Eagles surpass the country’s previous record at the World Cup.

NFF Executive committee member, Chris Green, who made this disclosure hinted that the the federation’s target was to make sure that the African champions go beyond the second round in Brazil.

“We don’t want to take anything for granted. Our target in Brazil is to surpass our previous records at the World Cup.” Green said.

“We have the team to achieve our objective, and we are committed to giving the coach all the support he needs to help him succeed.

“As a federation, we have worked hard to improve the position and status of Nigerian football from the days when everything that could go wrong always seemed to do so.

“Now, there are no more cases of friendlies on the pages of newspapers, or cancelled friendlies, or picking players from the streets to play matches in obscure places.

“We have also secured a very good, world-class base for the team in Brazil that everyone is happy about, and we are working even harder behind the scenes to make sure this team does well at the World Cup.”

Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has warned Nigerians to look out for surprises as he  gets set to unveil the list of players he will invite for the week-long preparation for the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Keshi said he had been monitoring Nigerian players plying their trade both at home and abroad and this has given him confidence that all of them are good to play for their fatherland, but the former Super Eagles captain noted that he had already compiled the list of the best among the lot.

“there will be surprises in the list because I’m going to include some names on the list and I want to say that there will be few inclusion of players who had not been invited to the national team before in the list.”Keshi said.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is expected to make the list of invited players public as soon as it is submitted by the former Togo and Mali coach.
