Mix Feeling At Chelsea Camp Ahead Of Galatasaray Tie
- Updated: March 17, 2014
It was a mixed feeling at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Monday as defender Ashley Cole was the notable absentee ahead of their UEFA Champions League last-16 second leg clash with Galatasaray.
Cole missed the session at Cobham as he continues to battle a muscle problem in his leg which has restricted him to just one appearance – which was for England – since the end of January.
Cole, who was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the press on Monday morning, was not even part of the squad beaten 1-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday and that could give another chance to young defender Tomas Kalas.
However, there was better news of David Luiz, who did train and could be available to boss Jose Mourinho after missing the 4-0 win over Tottenham and the shock defeat at Villa Park that caused a bunching up at the top of the Premier League over the weekend.
Chelsea go into the Stamford Bridge match level with their Turkish opponents after Aurelian Chedjou cancelled out Fernando Torres’ early goal in the first leg in Istanbul.
