LVG Admits Man U are Not Good Enough, as Real Madrid Players Say ”Goodbye” to Di Maria

Manchester United lost to Swansea on opening weekend and flattered to deceive in a 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Sunday afternoon, now Louis van Gaal has admitted that the Red Devil’s start to the season was “not good enough”.

As United tried to reach a compromise with Real Madrid over the £63.9million transfer of Angel Di Maria, Van Gaal faced up to another unconvincing display.

Juan Mata put United ahead, but Jack Rodwell levelled to leave Van Gaal’s side on one point after two games, down in 13th place after their worst start in the Premier League for 22 years.

United are hopeful of reaching agreement over a deal to sign Di Maria, who is due in Manchester Monday for a medical, despite Real Madrid holding out for £75m – 90 million euros.

But Van Gaal admitted he needed to turn around United’s fortunes quickly, after acknowledging that his side had failed to do themselves justice for the second game running.

“You can never say how long it takes, because when you win the next match, the confidence comes back,” said Van Gaal.

“But we have to work a lot. The players are very disappointed after the game, because we thought we would win.

“We still have one point, but that is not good enough for Manchester United.”

Van Gaal said he could not be drawn on his move for Di Maria, who United are expected to eventually sign for £63.9 – 80million euros.

Several of the player’s Madrid team-mates, including Xabi Alonso and Marcelo, wished him well at United via twitter but Van Gaal said: “I cannot say anything about transfers, you have to understand that.

“When a transfer has been finished then we can say something. But now you have to wait and see. When the moment is there, Manchester United shall announce it.
