Kalusha Bwalya Insists on Foreign Coach For Zambia Team
- Updated: January 3, 2014

The president of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), the legendary Kalusha Bwalya has said only foreign coach can best handle the Zambian national team.
Speaking on ZNBC TV, Kalusha added that it is not likely a Zambian will get the coaching job noting that nearly all the African countries parade foreign coach except Nigeria and Ghana.
His words “It is a big ask for a Zambian and I do not know why we would want a Zambian to be coach because most of the other countries out there are all foreigners.
“90 per cent of 53 African countries have foreign coaches with the exception of Keshi and Kwesi Appiah the Ghanaian coach.”
The last local coach to handle the Chipolopolo was Patrick Phiri in 2008.
Many sports fans in Zambia have been calling for a local coach to replace the acting coach Patrice Beaumelle who has been acting since the exit of the nation cup winning coach Herve Renard who resigned in October to coach a French club Spchaux.
