Former Champions Bow Out Of CAF Champions League

Nigeria’s hopes of winning the 2014 CAF Champions League have been dashed as former African Champions Enyimba have been sent packing from this year’s CAF Champions League due to the away goals’ rule despite beating AS Real Bamako 1-0 in Mali Saturday.

The Aba boys lost the first leg at home 2-1, bringing aggregate scores to 2-2, but for AS Real Bamako advanced on the away goals’ rule

The Nigerians looked set snatch the needed victory after defender Bala Zaka’s first half goal.

However, all efforts to get the all important second goal, which would have seen them advanced to the next round was proved abortive.

Enyimba’s is the second Nigerian team eliminated from the continental competition, as league champions Kano Pillars crashed out of the CAF Champions League in the preliminary round.
