Fabregas, Costa Help Chelsea to a Fine Start, as the Blues Hammer Burnley 3-1
- Updated: August 19, 2014

Former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas inspired Chelsea to a 3-1 win over Premier League newcomers Burnley, creating two assists as Jose Mourinho’s men sailed past the Clarets at Turf Moor.
However, it was Burnley who opened the scoring on the night, with Scott Arfield stunner after just 13 minutes, beating Belgium international Courtois in goal for the visitors.
Despite the fantastic atmosphere created by the Burnley faithful, Chelsea were able to level the score four minutes later when Costa latched on to a loose ball six yards from goal and fired home for his side.
Versatile attacker Schurrle then put Chelsea two to the good when he connected with a stunning through-ball from Fabregas to silence to home support.
Costa was shown a yellow card for simulation after the hitman tumbled to the ground following an collision with Burnley’s keeper.
Despite his failed appeals, Chelsea scored their third after the 33rd minute when Branislav Ivanovic volleyed into the back of the net from Fabregas’ corner.
