Brendan Rodgers Is Set To Receive £60m summer war chest.
- Updated: April 23, 2014

The transfer kitty is made up of the money that would have been available to the Anfield boss and the extra TV cash from playing in Europe’s top club competition.
While other managers have spent more, it has been part-funded by the sale of players and any outgoings this summer will only add to Rodgers’ budget.
It will be a big boost to the Northern Irishman as he looks to bolster his squad to ensure this season’s title challenge is not a flash in the pan and also compete on four fronts.
The Reds have been able to battle it out with Chelsea and Manchester City at the top of the table this season despite having a much smaller squad than their title rivals.
But they have been helped by not having to deal with competing in Europe and players have been given plenty of rest time between games.
Meanwhile, Ian Ayre is confident Champions League football will ‘open new doors’ for Liverpool in the transfer market as they prepare for a big-spending summer.
The Reds managing director did not mention any figures they will be able to spend but he knows being able to dangle the carrot of playing in Europe’s top competition will be a huge boost.
They missed out on a number of targets because they could not offer Champions League football including Armenian ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan who opted to join 2013 finalists Borussia Dortmund.
Ayre said: “It has always been tougher in the transfer market when you are not competing at the highest level.
“We had the issue with Luis last summer because he wanted to play in the best games against the best players. That is always a factor.
“We have always been fortunate to be able to bring great players here despite that but there is no question it opens up a few doors for us and makes it a little bit easier.
“Even when you step through that door, there are still a lot of others trying to get the same players.
“There is no question we always expected that the squad we need for next season will be very different to the squad that we have needed for this year when we were not playing in Europe.
“That has always been on the cards.”
