BPL Resumes With Merseyside Derby Round Two
- Updated: January 28, 2014

After weekend of FA Cup matches in England, the Barclays Premier League returns Tuesday as Liverpool and Everton meet for the second Merseyside derby of the season.
The last time these two teams met they equally shared six goals, with Daniel Sturridge rescuing Liverpool in the 89th minute to secure his team one point.
With the top three Premier League teams slowly pulling away, the battle for fourth place has become even more intense, with Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool only separated by one point.
Manager Brendan Rogers still believes his side to be title contenders and a win at home to Everton tonight will no doubt keep them in the hunt for the League title.
Everton have not beaten Liverpool since 2010, so manager Roberto Martinez will want to secure victory in his first Everton match at Anfield. With so much at stake, Tuesday’s derby at Liverpool will be another Premier League classic.
Another interesting fixture this Tuesday is Arsenal’s trip to Southampton in a game the Gunners can not afford to drop point if they must keep their hopes of winning the tittle this season alive.
The league pace-setters will look to stretch their lead at the top of the table and exert more pressure on Manchester City and Chelsea.
One thing that is certain in this encounter is that the Saints will surely give Arsenal a good run for their money at St Mary’s where home fans expect Southampton to improve on their recent form.
At Old Trafford, Manchester United fans will be anxious to see their record signing, Juan Mata in his number eight shirt as the Reds host Cardif City. Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney trained on Monday and could make their return from injury.
Cardiff boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to restore a host of players to his starting line-up as he faces his former club after last weekend’s FA Cup win at Bolto.
In other fixtures of the day, struggling Crystal Palace take on Hull City, while Swansea host Fulham.
Alan Pardew will find out whether the sale of French midfielder Cabayeto PSG will have any serious effect on his team as Newcastle visit Norwich City.
