The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, will host the president of the Nigeria Football Federation Aminu Maigari and his counterparts representing the continent at this the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in his Cairo office Friday.
Hayatou, on behalf of the continent’s football governing body will meet the officials from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Nigeria and Ghana to discuss team preparations ahead of the global competition this summer.The CAF boss is expected to encourage the five football federations to ensure that all the African representatives put up better performance in Brazil.Reports say that CAF is looking to see at last one African country go past the semi-final stage, and Nigeria and Ivory Coast are being tipped to achieve that uphill task this year.Nigeria has never gone beyond the second round of the competition.
The Super Eagles are in group F, where they will fight for one of two spot to get through the group stage when they confront Argentina, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Iran.
Algeria are in group H along side Belgium, Russia and Korea Republic, while Ghana will battle Germany, Portugal and USA in Group G.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon face hosts, Brazil, Croatia and Mexico in Group A and Ivory Coast will fancy their chances in group C, where they tackle Colombia, Greece and Japan in Group.
