African Champions Fail To Record Victory Against Greece
- Updated: June 4, 2014

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were forced to a goalless draw by former European champions, Greece in a thrilling ‘’road to Brazil’’ international friendly inside the PPL Park in Pennsylvania, USA Tuesday.
The Super Eagles paraded what most likely looked like coach Stephen Keshi’s World Cup starting line-up put up a solid performance in a game that the two sides started very slowly.
However, the African champions lacked accuracy on the attack to penetrate a tough Greek defensive line.
Nigeria’s Victor Moses and Ioannis Fetfatzidis of Greece gave more life to the game with flashes of individual runs at intervals.
Moses seemed to be denied a genuine claim for a penalty kick after the Chelsea winger was brought down in what looked like inside the eighteen yard box, but the centre referee signaled free-kick for the Super Eagles after taking the ball about two yards backward.
The two sides stepped their games up inside the last quarter of the encounter, but neither was lucky enough to register a goal.
Monaco defender, Elderson Echiejile was substituted due to a minor hamstring injury.
The scoreless draw however, will give Keshi plenty to analyze as the 2014 World Cup debut gets closer and closer.
