Senegal Forward Refuses To Sign New Contract With German Club
- Updated: March 17, 2014
There are strong indications that Hannover’s Senegalese forward Mame Biram Diouf will leave the German side according to club chairman Martin Kind.
The Senegal international is out of contract in the summer and has rebuffed the club’s attempts to persuade him to sign a new deal.
Reports in recent weeks suggested that the Bundersliga club were hopeful the former Manchester United striker would stay put.
But Kind says they are now working to the premise that Diouf will be leaving after further contact from his agent.
“His agent has insisted we should not have any hopes on signing a new contract with Mame Biram Diouf, so that’s what we are going to do!” he told Neue Presse Hannover.
Diouf, who is set to miss the rest of the season after shoulder surgery, has been impressive for Hannover since joining them in 2012, claiming 26 goals in 57 Bundesliga games.
Stoke and Cardiff were strongly linked with a move in January, and the striker is being tipped to move back to the Premier League on a free transfer this summer.
