In what seemed a renewed violence in Kano, a gun battle between
suspected members of the Boko Haram who attacked the Nai-bawa
Police Station on Sunday night and security operatives led to the death of
two people in the commercial city.
The youths who operated on bikes and cars were said to have attacked
the Police Station at about 6.30 pm leading to shot out between them and
security operatives.
In the ensuing gun battle which created panic in the neighbourhood, two
people were reportedly killed.
Kano State Police Commissioner Alhaji Ibrahim Idris who confirmed the
attacks however said the victims were civilians. He acknowledged that the
Nai-bawa Police station was partly destroyed by the bombing.
On Saturday in Kaduna, suspected Boko Haram gun men had killed a
policeman in Unguwar Zazzagawa, Rigasa quarters. The deceased,
according to our reporter was simply identified as Corporal Farouk Iliya.
According to the Kaduna State Police Commissioner Ballah Nasarawa the
deceased policeman was shot by the gunmen at about 10pm on his way
home from duty.
The killer squad which he said operated on a bike trailed the deceased
policeman until they shot and killed him and then fled.
