In its efforts to fight the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram head on, The Joint
Military Taskforce in Kano at the wee hour of Tuesday captured an apartment
building believed to a bomb factory of the violent sect.
JTF spokesman in Kano Lieutenant Ikediche Iweha told journalists that the
isolated two bedrooms flat were found at Haye, Hotoro Arewa quarters in
Nasarawa Local Government.
He explained the security forces have been on the trail of the house for a
while but “feel last night was appropriate for the operation, so we mobilized
men and equipments, stormed the factory by 2.00am.”
Liquid substance, Osama Bi laden video titled “Dead at Last” and IED’s were
some of the items recovered during the raid.
Lt. Iweha regretted that the armed soldiers were unable to arrest the prime
suspect but added that women and children were taken away from the
house. They are believed to be family members of the bomb makers.
The violent Boko Haram sect has claimed responsibility for numerous
bombings and deadly attacks in Borno, Kano, Jos, Suleja, Kaduna and
Abuja, Nigeria’s capital territory.
