Shooting Stars midfielder, Phillips Asuquo has waved aside the
insinuations that his exclusion from the Super Eagles team will
adversely affect him when the new NPL season kicks off.

Asuquo was one of the few NPL players that got the attention of
Stephen Keshi, and he seemed destined for a place in the Nations
Cup squad after mercurial displays in training.

But it all came to nought as he was sensationally dropped from the
squad.

“How can I feel bad about being dropped after all that I learned?
The man fans fondly called 'Iniesta' quipped.

“We were all aware that only 22 players or so will make the trip.
Nigeria is a fantastically blessed country as far as football talent
goes, so you would expect tough competition.

“At the start of the season, I wasn't expecting a national call up, so it
was nice. But having said that, I now want more, and will work to
become a better player next season”, Asuquo said.
