Akpabio has systematically continued insulting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and
touching on the sensibility of the Yoruba nation. ACN is presently in Election
Tribunal to reclaim its denied electoral victories in Akwa Ibom, among others.
Akpabio believes that the ACN should not; believing he had covered every
possible loophole that was used to rig PDP back to power there. He has
directly probably lacking in intelligence labelled ACN a Yoruba party, when he
remarked in the media recently that: “if ACN could sweep the south-west,
why would PDP not win Akwa Ibom in the south-south”? He reasoned as if
PDP is a south-south party. If ACN controls only Yoruba party, how then was
it able to control Edo and believed to have won Benue as well? ACN also had
great outing in far away Jigawa where it came second.
It is believed that ACN won the Anambra 2010 governorship election though
the matter is still in court. It recorded a great feat during the just concluded
2011 elections, winning a senatorial and many House of Assembly seats. As
regards Anambra 2010; if PDP is a disciplined party it would have sanctioned
Akpabio and Etiebet for anti-party activities they committed during the
Anambra 2010 governorship poll, as they campaigned against their own
candidate, Soludo.
Governor Akpabio of Akwa Ibom variously personally and through surrogates
made derogatory statements in the media through advertisements and press
releases querying why the elections in the south-west where ACN regained
control should not be challenged as PDP ‘wins’ in Akwa Ibom and other
places? That a political party started its popularity with persons from a
particular zone does not make such a party (as in ACN) a zonal party, not
after winning as enumerated above. Akpabio has also sacarstically called the
present (lone) ACN winner of seat in Akwa Ibom House of Assembly a virus
that must not be allowed in his government. Akpabio queried; if Fashola of
Lagos State would be operating with all-ACN House, he (Akpabio) was
entitled not to have any member outside the PDP in his government. He
spoke as if PDP won without rigging in Akwa Ibom as ACN did in Lagos.
Akpabio insulted Asiwaju Bola Tinubu when Akpabio Campaign Organization
called Tinubu a flippant (refer to Leadership of May, 25, 2011). Invariably they
were reacting to a sincere statement made by Tinubu in The Punch of May
24, 2011 to the effect that ACN would retrieve its mandates stolen in Akwa
Ibom and other States. If not for arrogancy on the part of the present PDP
leadership in Akwa Ibom, why was it that other mentioned states (Kwara and
Benue) did not comment as the same way as did Akpabio?
