After about eight months of running government without commissioners, Osun
State governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Friday swore in 14 commissioners
whom he urged to adopt the selfless lifestyle of the late sage, Chief Obafemi
Awolowo in rendering quality service to the people of the state.
Aregbesola who however retained the Works portfolio accused his predecessor,
Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola of convening only 48 sessions of the Executive
Council meeting in more than seven years he spent in office before his ouster
by an Appeal Court judgment.
Chiding the Oyinlola led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, administration for
ineptitude, Aregbesola noted that while the Exco meetings ought to have been
a weekly affair, Oyinlola merely meet with his commissioners for 48 weeks out
of the more than seven years he ruled Osun State.
Swearing in the commissioners in Osogbo, Aregbesola berated his critics who
had accused him of delay in the appointment of his commissioners describing
them as “people who lacked focus when they were in power”.
According to Aregbesola, with the outcry that trailed his delay in the
appointment of commissioners, members of the public would have thought that
the PDP government made any contributions to the life of the people of the
state with its exco.
He said the transformation that would be witnessed in the state would convince
the people that the Action Congress of Nigeria led administration was out to
improve on the welfare of the people.
Here are the names of the commissioners and their respective ministries:
Dr. (Mrs.) Temitope Ilori (Health),
Barrister Suraj Ajibola Bashir (Regional Integration and Special Duties),
Mr. Sunday Akere (Information),
Mr. Richards Adewale Adedoyin (Agric and Food Security),
Mr. Muyiwa Ige (Lands, Urban Development and Physical Planning)
Mr. Wale Afolabi (AG & Commissioner for Justice)
Mr. Stephen Kola Balogun (Youth & Sports Development)
Kolapo Alimi (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs)

Dr. Wale Bolorunduro (Finance and Economic Development)
Professor Oyawoye (Environment)
Ms. Mobolaji Akande (Women Affairs)

However deputy governor, Mrs. Grace Laoye-Tomori, would double as the
Commissioner for Education.
